Using Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) allows users to obtain research materials not available at HSLIC by requesting them from other libraries. These resources include, but are not limited to, journal articles, books and conference proceedings.

  • ILL is free for HSC users. Some fees may apply for RUSH requests and unaffiliated users. You can find a list of our Interlibrary Loan fees here.
  • We generally receive journal articles within one to three days of the initial request and send them to you electronically.
  • Generally, you will receive a book loan within one to two weeks of your initial request. Most loan periods are between two and four weeks. Depending on the lending library, you may renew some books.
  • If there is a fee associated with your request, the library offers two convenient payment options. You can pay with cash, check or credit card when you pick your item up at the Service Point or you can set up an electronic account. Customers from outside the UNM community can set up an account through the University that bills them for their article requests.
