Abbie comes to HSLIC with a wealth of experience and knowledge. She joined us from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) where she was the assistant head of Special Collections. Abbie received her master’s degree in Information Studies at the University of Texas in Austin, as well as a master’s degree in history at UTEP.  Abbie is a certified archivist by the Academy of Certified Archivists, a notable distinction in the field, and has over fifteen years of professional experience in libraries and archives.

In the short period of time since Abbie joined HSLIC, she has gotten busy processing the Joseph V. Scaletti papers, processing and creating a finding aid for a UNM HSC collection, and evaluating Latin American social medicine publications.

In addition to onboarding tasks and trainings, Abbie has dived into using ArchivesSpace, the underlying system for New Mexico Online Archives, and reviewing HSLIC’s policies and procedures for the care and use of the New Mexico Health Historical Collection and UNM HSC Archives.

When not working, Abbie enjoys going for walks, reading, and watching k-dramas.  We are truly excited to have Abbie join the HSLIC team and look forward to learning and growing with her in the coming months!
