Going, going, gone. Last week we saw the last book-truck of print journals leave the library’s 3rd floor.  For many of us this marks the passing of an era with fond memories of studying in print-filled library spaces.

The removal of print journals gives us an opportunity to truly transform more than 4000 square feet on the 3rd floor into a light-filled and versatile learning commons.  Over the next three months, many steps will be taken to make this happen:

July 25 – Relocate library furniture to optimize 2nd and 4th floors study space.
Aug 1 – Three additional student group study spaces will be available.
Aug 5 – Construction on the 3rd floor begins.
Aug 5-30 – Removal of old carpet, paint walls and columns, add more electrical outlets.
Aug 28-Sept 26 – Install new carpet.
Sept 26-Oct 11 – Install new furniture and finishes.
Oct 14 – Reopen 3rd floor.

Please check our message boards for the most up-to-date information. There is an exhibit regarding the remodel inside the lobby. We invite you to give us your feedback and suggestions during this process.  There is a suggestion box by the exhibit, or please send me your comments.
