Artificial Intelligence is shaping the future, but its past is more complicated than you might think. Join us for the kickoff event of our traveling exhibit: Promising Future, Complex Past: Artificial Intelligence and the Legacy of Physiognomy.
We’re launching this thought-provoking exhibit with a Browse & Bagel event—a chance to grab a free bagel and coffee, enter a raffle for fabulous prizes, and explore AI’s historical roots.
When: Thursday, March 6 | 9–11 AM
Where: HSLIC, 3rd Floor
About the Exhibit:
Promising Future, Complex Past takes a deep dive into AI’s connections to physiognomy, a discredited pseudoscience that tried to judge intelligence and character based on appearance. While AI promises groundbreaking innovations, its foundations are tangled with problematic past ideas—many of which still influence the biases in today's algorithms. This exhibit challenges us to think critically about AI’s legacy and the ethics of its future.
