Mark your calendars for Thursday, March 7, 2019 in room 228 at the Health Sciences Library & Informatics Center from 10-11 AM for a pivotal seminar on NMDID: Development of a Large-Scale, Whole-Body CT Image Database

Dr. Berry is a former Informatics Research Fellow at the Health Sciences Library and Dr. Edgar is a current Associate Anthropology Professor at UNM and a Forensic Anthropologist with the Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI).
The Office of the Medical Examiner received a grant in 2010 to CT scan any decedent that underwent an autopsy. In 2016, a grant was awarded to make those CT scans useable to the widest variety of researchers. The database will include 15,249 full body CT scans with associated health and lifestyle data. This seminar will review the project as well as the data standards that can be selected for a large database. The benefits to creating a database with CT images and associated health and lifestyle information will also be discussed.
