This week reminds us of the tremendous contributions made by public health professionals. Community health workers, faculty and staff of the UNM College of Population Health, members of the New Mexico Department of Health, personnel at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization workforce improve our lives by developing interventions that can be implemented in communities to prevent disease and improve health.
The American Public Health Association dedicates this week to “Centering and Celebrating Cultures in Health.” Daily themes are Community, Violence Prevention, Reproductive and Sexual Health, Mental Health, Rural Health, Accessibility, and Food and Nutrition. Links to these themes with information in English and Spanish - including data, calls to action, strategies to improve health, and organizations making a difference - can be found at https://nphw.org/Themes-and-Facts
