Please join us on Thursday, October 4, 2018 to hear Maggie Gunter, PhD, President and Executive Director at Lovelace Clinical Foundation speak on Innovations in Clinical Care and Medical Research: The Lovelace Legacy.

Dr. Gunter will describe the evolution and pioneering achievements of the various Lovelace-related medical care and health research organizations in New Mexico. This talk will focus on the innovative foundation of groundbreaking Lovelace accomplishments that served as a catalyst for numerous important state and national health initiatives. These included the NASA pre-space medical exams for the Mercury astronauts, national leadership in group practice/integrated health care, creation of the Episodes of Care® (1990s programs in population health and disease management), influence on Project ECHO, Wagner’s Chronic Care Model, Primary Care Medical Home, and value-based reimbursement, early use of electronic medical records, breakthroughs in respiratory disease, outcomes research, clinical trials, and new drug development, and creation of New Mexico’s statewide Health Information Exchange network.

The presentation runs from 10-11 a.m. at the Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center, room 228.
