At HSLIC’s Resources, Archives, and Discovery (RAD) unit, we’re lucky to work with two fantastic student employees who bring curiosity, energy, and fresh perspective to everything they do. From wrangling data to supporting archival projects and course reserves, they’re making a real impact behind the scenes.

Student Spotlight: Gnanitha Garikipati
Hometown: Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India
UNM Studies: Master of Science in Computer Engineering
Gnanitha is a graduate student with a passion for innovation and creative problem-solving—whether she’s exploring new technologies or expressing herself through art. Her favorite class is Machine Learning, where she’s diving deep into intelligent systems and the future of data-driven decision-making.
Working in RAD, she values the supportive team, flexible schedule, and positive environment that allows her to balance academic and professional goals.
Outside of class and work, you’ll likely find her traveling, sketching, or enjoying quiet moments—where the worlds she creates in her imagination are far more exciting than most real-life events or parties.
Her advice to her younger self? Live in the moment. Enjoy, explore, experiment, and learn.
Fun Fact: In her view, nothing beats getting lost in the worlds she creates.
Go-to study fuel: Chocolates, ice cream, milk, and kettle-cooked Lays
Study soundtrack: Indian playback legends like Karthik, Mani Sharma, DSP, Keeravani, and Thaman—plus the occasional devotional track
Future goals: In five years, Gnanitha sees herself as an AI/ML engineer working on impactful projects that push boundaries and make a difference. She hopes her journey includes a mix of meaningful work, exciting travel, and a constant drive to try new things. When she looks back, she wants to see a portfolio she’s proud of—and a life full of great memories.

Student Spotlight: Seeun Choi
Hometown: Seoul, South Korea
UNM Studies: Economics major with minors in business and interdisciplinary liberal arts
Seeun is a first-year UNM student with a passion for economics and a soft spot for lavender cream oatmilk matchas. Her favorite class is Experiencing Honors, a hands-on course where students learn knitting skills for a purpose. She says it’s exciting every time she goes to class—and what makes it truly special is the purpose behind it. By the end of the semester, students will have made beanies to donate to unhoused individuals.
Seeun is gaining practical experience in RAD where she’s learned everything from course reserves and book box creation to digitizing old publications and discovering centuries-old texts in the library’s off-site storage. Plus – she’s had some fun with 3D-printing a Star Wars spaceship (and yes—it turned out awesome!).
Outside of class and work, she loves traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends—especially since her family lives in South Korea. Recent stops include Denver, L.A., and Santa Fe, with Las Vegas next on the list.
Her advice to her younger self? Don’t take everything so seriously. She’s learned to worry less, live more, and trust that most things are not the end of the world.
Fun Fact: She’s a proud fan of pineapple pizza and mint chocolate chip ice cream, even if others don’t care for it.
Go-to study fuel: Lavender cream oatmilk matcha
Study soundtrack: El Dorado by 24kGoldn
Future goals: Grad school—likely a master’s or PhD in economics
We’re lucky to work with Seeun and Gnanitha, whose unique talents and perspectives strengthen our team. Their work in RAD helps make what we do at HSLIC possible—and we can’t wait to see where their journeys take them next.
