HSLIC is pleased to welcome Will White as our new Scholarly Communications Librarian in the Resources, Archives & Discovery (RAD) division. He joins us from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, where he supported public health, health professions, and biological sciences programs through instruction, research services, and scholarly communication initiatives. His background also includes presenting at the 2024 World Conference on Research Integrity. Will holds an MSLIS from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign.
In his new role at HSLIC, Will’s work will focus on developing scholarly communication strategies, offering workshops and guidance on publishing practices and digital tools, and managing and growing HSC’s contributions to the UNM Digital Repository. He will also help strengthen research visibility across the UNM Health Sciences Center and contribute to ongoing university-wide conversations about open access and research impact.
When asked what excites him most about joining HSLIC, Will shared:
“I am the most excited about working with early career health sciences researchers to help enhance their visibility as scholars.”
He also identified a clear priority for his first year:
“During my first year here, I hope to increase HSC faculty and student awareness of the UNM Digital Repository through outreach, workshops, library guide content and guest lectures.”
And, to officially welcome him to New Mexico, we asked him our state’s quintessential question – red or green or Christmas? His answer:
“Green all the way!”
Please join us in welcoming Will to HSLIC. We look forward to the expertise and perspective he brings to supporting the research, teaching, and scholarly community across the UNM Health Sciences Center.
