GIDEON (Global Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Online Network)

What is GIDEON?

GIDEON (Global Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Online Network)  is a resource that includes data on Infectious Diseases. It provides information on diseases -history, geographic spread, and treatment. It also includes a visualization tool to create charts as well as a differential tool to assist in diagnosis. Information is updated daily to provide the most current information.

Research Features

Interactive maps
GIDEON's interactive disease outbreaks and distribution maps cover data going
back as far as 1348 AD.

Dynamic Comparison Tables
Tools to create side-by-side assessment of diseases, drugs, bacteria,
mycobacteria, and yeasts - up to 10 at a time.

Dynamic Charts Generation
GIDEON's Quantify module is a unique facility that allows analysts to combine
38,000+ epidemiological graphs to create downloadable charts.

Laboratory Features

Differential Pathogen Identification
The only tool that supports Bayesian-driven identification of over 2,000 bacteria,
mycobacteria, and yeasts.

Dynamic Decision Trees
No more hand-drawn dichotomous keys!
Students can generate and export decision trees dynamically, along with a
differential pathogen probability list.

Why Not
A suspected pathogen did not appear on the list? Find out why

Point of Care Features

Bayesian-driven Differential Diagnosis (DDx)
GIDEON clinical decision support tools are powered by a massive quantity of
published medical research and geographical medicine data.

First Case Scenario
Developed in consultation with the World Health Organization, GIDEON's First
Case Scenario is designed to identify the initial cases of known diseases in new
settings.

Why Not
A suspected disease did not appear on the list? Find out why.
