Research Support Services for HSC

A guide for HSC researchers to learn about where to go for support, and how the library's services are embedded within the broader research lifecycle.

Compliance Requirements (Non-Financial)

Efforts to address non-financial compliance requirements will likely have been initiated during the Plan/Propose stage. By careful planning and review of sponsor requirements for externally funded research, as well as relevant regulations and UNM/HSC policies, researchers and their teams will have fewer outstanding administrative requirements to address in the Setup stage. This preparation will save the team time and will help to ensure that research may begin as planned and on time. Non-financial compliance areas common in UNM/HSC research include, but are not limited to, security and export controls, environmental health and safety concerns, and the use of human subjects, animals, or stem cells.

The HSC Family & Community Medicine's Research Management Team (RMT) are available to FCM faculty for assistance with interpreting contract/grant terms and compliance. The RMT also provides comprehensive support for navigating IRB requirements and procedures and will help PIs:

  • Prepare: individual consultation and checklists; assistance with selecting forms; protocol development/editing;departmental reviews
  • Submit: submission of forms into the UNM HSC Click IRB system
  • Monitor: function as the primary contact assigned to monitor the IRB status; assistance with clarification, modifications, reviews, and closures
