How to Evaluate OERs

Evaluating an OER should be a similar process to evaluating traditional textbooks that would be adopted for use in a course including that content:

  1. Covers the subject area appropriately
  2. Is accurate and current
  3. Is clearly written and appropriate for the audience

In addition to the above, the following should also be considered when reviewing an OER:

  1. License allows reuse or adaptation depending on how content will be used
  2. Content is accessbile
