Welcome to the Traveling Exhibits guide! This guide will provide information about HSLIC's two traveling exhibits, activities to supplement the exhibits, and additional resources.
In Fall 2024, HSLIC awarded an internal seed-funding grant to Deirdre Caparoso, Amy Weig-Pickering, and Abbie Olivas to create two exhibits about New Mexico health history specifically designed for New Mexico's rural public libraries. Claire Hannon from UNM HSC marketing designed the graphics for this project.
The Traveling Exhibits Project shares highlights from HSLIC's Special Collections as well as consumer health information with communities throughout the state. The two traveling exhibits, one on infectious disease and the other on diabetes, feature resource kits and suggested activities with an emphasis on healthy living.
Each exhibit includes five retractable banners, a hanging banner to promote the exhibit, bookmarks that provide information about HSLIC and healthy living tips, a flash drive, and a folder containing library programming tips and ideas. Additionally, the first ten libraries to request one of the exhibits will receive multiple books on health topics to add to their collections.
The New Mexico State Library Courier and Delivery Service market and circulate the exhibits and resource kits to public libraries throughout the state on a quarterly delivery schedule.
