HSLIC LibGuides Style Guide

This guide is intended for HSLIC employyes to assist in the creation of their guides.

Why LibGuides?

Having LibGuides offers us the opportunity to engage our patrons throughout their entire research process, at any time or any place that they might be working. Guides allow us to be with patrons as they work and/or learn by doing. That is why it is important that we understand guides should be seen as dynamic resources and ones that build in pedagogy, context, the Framework for Information Literacy and MLA Professional Competencies. The extent to which these concepts are built in will depend on the intended audience of the guide you create, but we need to remember that guides are more than lists of resources.

Purpose of This Guide

It is important that the HSLIC Web presence and all library content be properly maintained and kept as part of a cohesive whole and is accessible to all our patrons. This Style Guide provides step-by-step training, outlines best practices, defines standards to which all LibGuide pages must adhere, and includes information on how to meet these standards and continue maintenance on your guides.
